Monday: a pretty uneventful work day, cleaned up some trails, picked up trash, talked to a few people and spent the entire day out in beautiful sunny Arizona. We met a couple from Canada that are camping in the desert on motorcycles! He just retired at age 70, they have two dogs, two motorcycles and a need for adventure. She has a trailer on the back of her bike that converts into a queen size bed. He carries the heater. I know there are those who wonder how we do what we do but… this is something I don’t think we could do.
Is it a boat? or a Plane? or both?
Eric got this all cleaned up
We see lots of old restored cars on the road
Tuesday: this sign had been broken at the base, had to install a new post and signs.
worked mostly in the yard. watered our trees again today. out of 35 trees 15 had new buds from our watering two weeks ago! Not sure if the others are dead or just dormant. we should see in the next two weeks.
Had to go pick up a memory card for my computer in Bullhead city, so made a Walmart run and dinner at a wonderful Mexican restaurant. If we have time this will be a repeat for sure.
Wednesday: more yard work and a run to Lake Havasu city to drop off some stuff at the Bureau of Reclamation. Laundry and packing for the evening.
Thursday: headed to Scottsdale! it was about 240 miles in about 5 hours.. not to much to see but desert but it was beautiful. We stayed at the Hampton Inn, Scottsdale.
we are on the look out:
after checking in we went to Old Town Scottsdale
a great place to walk around with great shops. We stopped at the Museum of Broadcasting (that was free) but did not have the camera… worth 20 minutes to check it out.
on the recommendation of the Goodwin children (Grace and Joe) we went to
for the best pizza ever. these kids sure do know good food.
Friday: well the weather has turned a bit cooler. not saying anyone is at fault but…. the last time we were below “normal” friends Roberta and John were in town and they are coming again on Tuesday! just saying…
well we headed to:
what a wonderful day…and lucky for us the Chihuly exhibit was still there and we seen 3 new birds.. it was a beautiful place a bit overwhelming as we were multi tasking with the birds, cacti, glass sculptures and landscaping. a lot to take in, in just a few hours.
off to my Uncle Jim and Aunt Irene’s for a wonderful visit.
Uncle Jim loves to show off his tool shed….
a quick hike near the botanical garden
finished the evening at Four Peaks brewery and restaurant. had a wonderful French dip and Salmon BLT and of course some very good mico brew beer.
Saturday: we had reservations at 10 am to tour
beautiful place to visit…
we went for a quick lunch then to hike at the McDowell Preserve for a few hours looking for new birds… did not see any new ones
this is a Gila Woodpecker pair
we kind of like this house… maybe when we win the lottery?
met up with Eric’s friend and his co-worker for dinner . what a wonderful night we had, visiting and a great dinner.
We had a great time here in the Phoenix area. hope to be back again sometime in March.
