Sunday we left Sedona for Needles. It took us about 8 1/2 hours to get home. Of course the first 18 miles out of 240 took us more than 3 hours! we found some great places to stop and found one new bird.. our count for this weekend was 4! While hiking the temp was about 28 degs. when we got home it was 78! time to put the winter clothes away again.
main lodge
guest house?
storage for apples?
on the trail past this lodge we seen
we don’t need no walking sticks! the path looks fine… a bit icy but no challenge for us
until we get here…
well we don’t have sticks so I guess we will not cross the stream.
However we did find our new bird, a Canyon Wren. we heard the song then actually found the bird!
yes ice on the creek
we also seen some Acorn Woodpeckers
another stop had a beautiful creek
we found a Great Blue Herron Rookery! been looking for years on our lake. there is about 4 nests in this tree, I tried to zoom on two..
as we were driving we actually seen the top of this mountain. both times on this road (in Nov and last week) it was cloudy and snowing so we did not get to see the top.
we sure do live in a beautiful country. we are so thankful that we are able to appreciate the beauty. the elusive Pinyon Jay has eluded us again.. maybe next time we are up that way we will finally see them!
Monday: typical trash day, in Sedona there was a sign by the road that said: “Litter Lifters on road side”. I think I like that description better than trash picker uppers!
we see a number of these (sand rails?)
we also replaced a faded sign
Tuesday: our 2nd staff safety meeting.. it was a pretty long but we finally got outside. today’s job was to prep a building for paint. Scraping and power washing.
Wednesday: back to prime the building…
it looks a lot better with just the primer. should get it done next week..
no real plans for this weekend. it is suppose to be record high temps.. might see 90! beach time?
