Thursday: we began our long weekend with a game of golf. Had to check out my new shoes.
well, I did not make any major improvements in my game but I did look better. Every week we seem to improve a bit. Next week will probably be our last chance until sometime in June? if the snow ever melts up north.
Off to lunch in LHC at
this is the 3rd brewhouse in LHC and our favorite. Eric had a hamburger with bacon, egg, cheese etc that was so delightful! My tuna sandwich and antipasto salad was also very good.
After checking into the Hampton Inn we headed to the water to catch the Water Taxi to the casino in Calif.
it costs $2 for a 20 minute ride, free on the way back. well worth the money for the trip. the casino was pretty small and smoky. I did walk out with $10 more than I walked in with… we only stayed until the next taxi.
not sure what this is, I think it can be rented for your personal party. kinda cute
we headed to the street car fair in downtown LHC there was about 100 cars, most were in mint condition, paint jobs were the best we have seen so far.
I thought this would be a good touring car, Eric could drive the girls around the lake..
this one has a window A/C!
this one was for sale for $65,000 there were a few that were for sale anywhere from 13-65,000 or call for pricing
all of the engines were spotless…
is it a motorcycle or a Volkswagen?
another unique one
great day roaming around the city. after our free beers at the hotel we headed to the
but before we got there we had a beautiful sunset then had to walk across the bridge
we sat down at the bar when Eric exclaimed look at the TV!
Eric’s cousin Tom’s son wrestles for North Dakota! we were able to watch the entire match and Kurtis Julson won! that was so fun, of course everyone looked at us like what… but they did not know the kinship.
beautiful day in LHC.
Friday: we headed out after breakfast to look for some birds. did not find any new ones but did find some interesting places to see them and a turkey vulture drying out his wings and a interesting bird nest.
we seen a bunch of burro’s but had to take a pic of this little guy..
he is way too cute.
beach time:
this looks like fun..
took a walk to check out the spring breakers. lots of topless girls, lots of tattoos, a 70ish man with only a fish net jock strap on! too gross to take a pic of…
not sure where they get the money for the nice boats, but all the kids were very polite to us old ones.
out for dinner:
we pass this place every time we do our trash run and have been wanting to try it out. the music was good
the food even better. this would be a repeat if we had the time…
quite evening after a long day of running..
Saturday: we headed out to the Special Activities Recreation Area south of LHC for a hike in the mountains, well actually through the crack in the mountain.
the sky was soooo blue but these pictures do not do it any justice.
its about a mile into the canyon but worth going in. it is beautiful
this is a 7 foot drop, I was not happy about sliding down but all worked out OK.
had to use the ladder to get back up! it doesn’t quite reach the top so it was a bit harry…
after a few hours, the sun and heat was getting to us, time to go to the beach. did not take any pictures. pretty much the same as yesterday but a bit more crowded. we thought we should try out our pool and hot tub before dinner. it was nice, a few people enjoying the pool but room for us too.
we forgot the camera for dinner! but ended up at Rosatti’s for pizza. it was fabulous. the sausage was chicago style, a bit spicy for me but ooooh so good.
another good day at LHC….
Sunday: our last day here. we were heading down to the water when we ran across this flea market!
it took us almost two hours to see the entire market. we had walked past here last night at about 9pm, the lot at that time was completely empty!
I have been wanting to see the Cactus Garden in the State Park but refuse to spend $15 a day to drive into the park! well we found an article that explained how to get in near our hotel.
it was about a 1 1/2 mile walk one way but well worth it. great walking path through trees, desert and near the lake.
Well…. we do not like to go to a restaurant more than once a year, (too many to check out) much less twice in one weekend.. but… we ended back at the College Street Brewhouse and Pub (the same one we visited on Thursday on our way into town). Eric needed to get his growler filled and we really liked our first meal so…
I had 2 side dishes: blue cheese wedge salad and mac and cheese. both were great.
Eric had a wonderful turkey pesto sandwich with the fabulous sweet potato chips.
He felt bad about repeating the chips but they are soooo good. a taste of honey and cinnamon. not sure how they do it as nothing was sprinkled on them.
Back to reality. when we got home we did laundry, grocery shopping, cleaned out the truck and packed away our summer clothes and got out our winter clothes. we plan on leaving here this coming Friday unless the weather is bad then we will leave Thursday.
One last week of work!
