Since yesterday was a holiday we will work Tue-Thurs this week. Tues is our litter pick up day. Not too much to report there. great day to be outside. Wed, Eric help prime and paint another building. Since it really is a two man job I cleaned the office, picked up around HQ, did some touch up paint on the first building and pruned some bushes and trees. The wind really picked up in the late afternoon and it was pretty hot. (85ish). Usually I don’t get my 15,000 steps in until after we get back to the RV and we go for a walk but today I had them by 2:00pm! Thurs was really windy. too windy to finish painting the building. We headed to the yard to finish some chores we had begun a few weeks ago.
Friday: we went golfing while friends Fred and Kim home shoveled snow in NW Wis! (Kim I took the liberty of taking pics off of facebook).
we both shaved 3 strokes of last weeks game… Eric did really good, I just improved a bit.. we seen this little guy on the course, I believe they call them kit fox
went to the local Safeway grocery store and finally found Oreo cookies, been looking for these for over a month!
the Marshmallow Crispy is pretty good, the Cookie Dough was good but had a hint of coffee, more like mocha. made one more stop at a local Mexican store, bought some really really good homemade tamales, tortillas, cake and beer!
Walked into to town to see a parade. The Annual Route 66 Hot Boat and Custom Car show
this boat worth more than 2 million is over 50 feet long!
thought of brother in law Todd… does his Bronco look like this? it could
very good BBQ for dinner
walked home and we could hear the car/boat engines roaring.
Saturday: got up really early (5 am) to go for a bird walk on the refuge. It was quite cold (upper 30’s) when we began. We actually seen a lot of birds (50+) and got two new ones! we could not have done it alone, those small birds still confuse us. Our walk lasted about 5 hours.. it was wonderful…
back home to change into summer clothes to go to the
$3 per person.. pretty good deal. this is the continuation of the parade from last night. but now some of the boats are on the water.
very loud and very fast.. the engines are either car or airplane
of course lots of old cars…
Although not old Eric really liked this one with the surfer theme going on
these race cars rev’ed up their engines too
time for a nap.. got up way too early just hung around home, listening to WOJB out of Reserve Wi.. Bluegrass and Honky Tonk. been a long time since we enjoyed the sounds of home.
Sunday: headed to Oatman. we were here about 6 years ago during our Thanksgiving gathering. not too much has changed.
this is as close as I got to the burros
lunch in the town hotel was pretty good
turtle ranch
another wonderful week in the desert! back to work tomorrow..
