New Mexico Part 2 Albuquerque

It was a bit windy but again not too bad.  We decided to stay at a private park near Albuquerque rather than a state park.  One of the benefits is very good computer, phone and TV.

After settling in we headed out to

we seen a lot of birds, no new ones..  great small city park with nice paths.

suspect we should see a lot over the weekend unless it is too windy.

we went into Old Town for dinner.

Friday Nov 15.

Eric had a taste for Huevos Rancheros for breakfast sooo..  we headed into Old Town for breakfast after a small walk around our park.  He got exactly what he wanted. 

We headed towards the Sandia Tram but stopped at a local casino for a bit..  we both came out happy…

before we took the tram we took a little hike, lots of beautiful boulders and flowers.

time to take the tram up…  it took about 15 minutes to go 2.7 miles to 10,378 ft, the longest tram in the world..

it was really cold and windy at the top, temp about 34 deg, with the wind at about 30mph making the wind chill in the 20’s!

two days ago Eric was swimming in the Blue Hole today he played in the snow..  we spent about an hour or so at the top, hiking and enjoying the scenery and looking for Golden Eagles.  Did not see any.

We spent a little more than an hour hiking along the trails.

It was amazing how close we could get to them.  beautiful area to hike.

Saturday we headed back to the Nature Center for a bird walk.  were hoping to catch a few new birds but we did not…  we seen lots of birds but none new to us.

although our sandhill cranes are a rusty brown color where these are grayish white.

we did see a porcupine, a rock squirrel and a family of coyotes

as usual we met some wonderful people and it was a good walk around.

next we headed to lunch at a brewery then off to the Balloon Museum

it was only $3 each to get in, and that is about what it was worth.

it was more history than science, so we were a bit disappointed. not sure if the lamp was a joke or serious?

after hiking around and on the volcano’s we headed for lunch:

then off for more site seeing and birding. we ended up at Tingley Park where I met Mr Tingley!

he did not say too much but was happy to see me.  time to go to Old Town for a bit of shopping.  It was not very busy and not all stores were open but we managed to spend about 3.5 hours walking around.  another beautiful day.  we hope to come back here in the Spring.

Tomorrow is Monday Nov 18 and we are heading to Gallup New Mexico.  its about 130 miles from Albuquerque.
