Well we really like New Mexico, can’t seem to get out of this state. we are about 16 miles from the Arizona border. On our way from Albuquerque to Gallup we stopped at the Continental Divide.
We were planning on stopping at Red Rock State Park for a few nights but no water so we moved on just past town to
another private park that has even smaller sites than the last one, but it has running water and showers.
the puppies really like this park
after setting up we headed into town for lunch. we chose
film stars like John Wayne, Ronald Reagan and Gary Cooper and more stayed here while filming in the area. I am pretty sure we ate at the same table as the Duke!
there are lots of autographed pictures of the stars. Lunch was good.
we then walked a bit around downtown Gallup. not too much to see or do.

Tuesday Nov19: its was time for us to go out for breakfast so we headed to Cracker Barrel. had wonderful pancakes and bacon… then it was time for some hiking
we started out at Church Rock:
we somehow lost the path and ended up at a dead end
there was a sign warning about mountain lions
we did not see any lions, maybe some prints?
this little lady did not make these prints. she followed us the whole way.
okay we gave up trying to get to the Church Rock and went to the Pyramid rock:
the path was much easier to follow. we even found some info signs.
view from the top
next on to Window Rock (it is actually in Arizona)
Navajo code talkers memorial
finally we went to the High Desert trail for a hike. very nice hiking but no birds… but they have fun signs:
loving the hiker dude!
dinner at a local spot.. really good food…
Wednesday Nov 20, time to move to Arizona. we plan on going about 130 miles to Homolovi Ruins State Park near Winslow.
