We left early on Saturday morning for Vegas. of course we made a few stops along the way, birding, shopping and lunch. We stayed at the Quad, which is the old Imperial Palace. Our room is the Old Imperial Palace. I had read on the internet that they had refurbished all of the rooms… they forgot ours.. same furniture, same rug, same bathroom…. but for $25 not too bad. The fitness room is pretty small but bigger than at the refuge. Spent the evening not far from our hotel. Found a place with $1 Michelob beers in the bottle..
Sunday we tried out the fitness center.. then off for a quick small breakfast. then off to walk the strip. Not too much traffic (vehicles or people) at 9:00 am. Stopped at a few casinos to see what they had to offer. the Cosmopolitan had this neat bench and one of Liberace's cars.
The Bellagio's conservatory was so pretty. this is the year of the horse
made dinner reservations at Olives in the Bellagio over looking the water
Went to Harrah’s for lunch, grilled and fried oysters… sooooo good
next downtown for a session
we went into almost all of the casinos on Fremont Street. fun to see the old casinos. the busiest one was the Golden Nugget. Stopped at Binyons to get our picture taken with 1 million $
that was fun.. we gambled a bit, did not lose but did not win….
dinner at Olive’s was very very good. but… they allow people to smoke out on the terrace. We moved once because the smoke was coming right in our faces. Although the food was phenomenal we will not go again because of the smoking.
Eric had to use an IPad to find beer selections…
salads: non traditional Caesar and Boston bib
Salmon and ravioli
we wanted to see the water show, it was not disappointing
time for a bit more walking, the volcano erupts
back to our favorite place:
Monday: Met up with cousin Jim and Rose at Hash House a Go Go for lunch;
setting up our meeting while resting at the Encore
the one good part of Vegas is all the walking we are able to get in. 28,500 steps yesterday!
Lunch was fabulous. Rose and I had the Hand pounded chicken fried sandwich
we could have split it and still have left overs.
Jim had the corned beef that looked fabulous
Eric had the chicken and waffles. the waffles have bacon in them… with a Bud in a Bag…
needles to say the guys pretty much finished their plates.. a bit of a walk around the strip then later
We took the shuttle to the Rio to meet up with them again for a little session
although we are smiling we are not Winning!!! no luck today at any of the casinos.
It was great fun meeting up with Rose and Jim. I miss our talks and laughs.
Tuesday: time for us to head back to Needles. work tomorrow..
Erick & Kathy, Wanted to say thanks for the birthday card, it's great to hear from you guys. Looks like your having a blast and liking the desert Southwest! Wish I was there, but the blog is always a little vacation seeing you guys in shorts and T-shirts...and no snow! Thanks Again!
